Judging by the number of presentations, the third day of EQTC 2023 was definitely the most packed day of the entire conference. But it also hosted probably the most surprising session. Between quantum limited detection, transmon qubits and quantum sensing in space, a play filled the plenary hall and drew attention to equality, diversity and inclusion. But why should we concern ourselves with these issues, even when they are so impressively presented and not judged solely on merit? There are many reasons, but one seems to be one of the most striking: It has been proven that a diverse team can achieve more than a homogeneous team.
Speaking of building a team: The closing session of today focused on how to build a quantum ecosystem, remembering us of the training and education programmes needed to build up the skilled quantum workforce of the future.
